If you have any concerns whether they arise from the behaviour of a team official or another adult associated with the club, or indeed a visiting team, please discuss them with Kirsty or Trevor. Club welfare officers will also report any incidents of serious abuse that are drawn to their attention to the appropriate authorities, irrespective of whether that abuse may occurred outside the football environment.

Eagles celebrate a triple league cup success

Over the past week Eagles teams have enjoyed great success in Royston Crow League Cup Finals staged for the first time at the Bury Buntingford.

U17

Firstly the under 17 team run by John Deacon and Anthony Cunningham  beat Baldock Town  Crusaders 3-1 in a thrilling game in warm sunshine before a packed crowd. Jay Duguid scored two excellent strikers goals from runs onto crosses into the penalty area and by half time Baldock looked beaten. Second half they recovered well and their number 9 scored an excellent goal before being surprisingly substituted. With their main striker removed from play Baldock faded and Jay Duguid completed his hat trick with a spectacular flighted shot from outside the penalty area into the top corner of the Baldock net.

The under 17 s also won league division 2. See u17 match reports.

U11 Blues

The following week the under 11 blues run by Phil Oram and coached by Gary Williams were in action against an excellent Buntingford Cougars team that had already won the league title. Eagles struck first but in the second half Buntingford equalised and with minutes left it looked like extra time. Both teams pressed and Eagles scored that vital goal to run out winners 2-1. It was an excellent game with fine passing moves by both sides, and a credit to all those who took part. (See team match report)

U13 Blues

At the end of the afternoon the under 13 blues managed by Gary Hoy fought a hard game against a resilient Bishops Stortford who never stopped running. Eagles scored first but could not  get a second before the Bishops equalised with a penalty in the second half. No more goals in normal time or extra time so the game went to penalties. It was a nail biting finish with no result after 5 so sudden death. Both sides started to miss more than they scored but finally Eagles  got their noses ahead to win the game. I lost count of how many penalties were taken but I think most of the team were asked to perform!
